Using second conditional to discuss hypothetical dilemmas
Aim
Students discuss imaginative scenarios in pairs using second conditional structures.
Level
B1–B2
Time
20–25 minutes
Preparation
Print one set of question cards. Cut and place face down in a pile per pair.
Procedure
Put students in pairs.
Place the question cards face down between them.
Student A picks a card and reads the question to Student B.
Student B answers using the second conditional and explains their reasoning (at least 3 sentences).
Student A can ask one follow-up question.
Switch roles for the next card.
After all questions, pairs share the most interesting answers with the class.
