Activity Type
Speaking Activity
Focus
Present perfect negative and question forms
Aim
Students discuss life experiences using present perfect in a structured class activity.
Level
A2–B1
Time
15–20 minutes
Preparation
Print one prompt sheet per group, or display on the board.
Procedure
Students sit in groups of 4–5. Each student starts with ten fingers up.
Read the first prompt: "Never have I ever eaten insects." Anyone who HAS done this puts one finger down.
The student who put a finger down must share a short explanation using the present perfect: "I have eaten fried crickets in Thailand."
Students take turns reading prompts from the sheet.
When a student has no fingers left, they are out (but can keep listening).
The last student with fingers up wins.
Debrief: what was the most surprising experience someone shared?
