Aim
Students complete sentences about past events using the correct past simple form.

10–15 minutes
Preparation
Print one worksheet per student.
Procedure
Ask students what they did last weekend to activate the topic.
Hand out the worksheet and read the example aloud.
Students work individually to complete the gaps.
In pairs, students check their answers and practise reading the sentences aloud.
Review as a class. Pay attention to pronunciation of -ed endings.
Extension: students write a short paragraph about their own last weekend.
